Have you ever secretly wanted to be a spy? I sure did (when I was younger, anyway). That’s why I’m so pleased to be writing a new series for readers who love mystery, suspense, and all things spy-like. The first SCHOOL FOR S.P.I.E.S. book, PLAYING WITH FIRE, hits bookstores on June 25. I can’t wait!
This book was many years in the making. It sprang from a childhood love of spy tales, including James Bond, the Man From U.N.C.L.E., Get Smart, Mission: Impossible, and others. That love of spies continued as I grew older, reading books like Robert Ludlum’s Bourne series and watching spy movies like Three Days of the Condor and The Ipcress File. In fact, I even investigated joining the CIA after college, but when they said they were looking for economic analysts, not field agents, I lost interest.
In the end, it’s probably better that I ended up writing a spy series. This way, at least, the missions go the way I want them to.
To get the word out about SCHOOL FOR S.P.I.E.S., I’ll be doing a blog tour and various other virtual and in-person promotional appearances this summer and fall. You’ll find more information about that right here, as plans firm up.
In the meantime, watch this space for the latest news on Max Segredo and his School for S.P.I.E.S. crew. Here you’ll discover not only authorial messages like this one, but how-to-be-a-spy tips and the occasional diary entry from Max, Cinnabar, Wyatt, or one of the other spies-in-training.
Hope you enjoy PLAYING WITH FIRE. Happy snooping and happy reading!
